    Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation, State Government of Haryana Undertaking is endeavouring to promote a campus of 150 acres as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Technology Parks in the Industrial Model Township of Manesar, Gurgaon which is now a business hub of IT Co’s and Multinationals.Nine SEZs have already been approved in principle by the Central Government. Out of these, eight SEZs would be in the private sector and one SEZ is being set up by the HSIDC over an area of about 3000 acres. 

 

    The central Government has promulgated the SEZ Act in June 2005 and SEZs have been declared as ‘Deemed Foreign Territories’ to be duty free enclaves with no restriction on investment and import of goods and services. With a view to attract foreign investors and corporate bodies, the Government has offered several incentives like access to domestic tariff area, 100 percent foreign direct investment under the automatic route, greater flexibility with respect to foreign exchange earnings and procedural ease.

    The SEZ units may be set up to manufacture goods and render services, production, processing, assembling, trading, re-conditioning and re-engineering. The goods and services going into the SEZ are from domestic tariff area would be treated as exports and coming from SEZ area to the domestic tariff area would be treated as imports. The SEZ units may import, without payment of duty, all types of goods including capital goods, whether new or second hand. The units set up in SEZ shall be positive net foreign exchange earners and the earnings would be calculated cumulatively for a period of five years from the commencement of production.
